FIND YOUR BATCHMATES CONTEST !!!

Just wondering how many out of the batch of 40 who joined IMP in 86 are in our radar now. I am giving a list of batachmates with whom I have been personally in touch or with whom I understand that some of you (from your notes etc.) have been in touch . Pl contribute to this list . After a sufficient no. is reached Sanjay can compile it and post it under a suitable heading in the blog and keep updating it as per the additions made by us in our comments to this note. His list would act as a ready reference for all of us and also for all those batchmates who are currently sitting on the other side of the fence.

THE CONTEST!!!!!Let's see how fast can we trace all our batchmates (with locations ideally) ! Pl also put the names of those batchmates also whom we cannot track down currently under the "Lost " column. For every found name u get a +2 and for every "lost/yet to be found" one you get a +1 .

Pl come forward and participate in this contest. Whoever comes up with the biggest list (first registered basis- entry in parts is also ok) will be nominated as "IPMer 88" of the week by the Administrator. The countdown begins....(not the names given below pl. But if u can move the lost ones to found ones then you get a point for it..)

Good initiative Manju . Believe me I did not even remember 40 of us joined. I am not sure I recall Sheeba, I am sure we had only 3 girls in our class; maybe I am missing something over here.

So the big prize for this one would be a gift voucher of Rs. 500/-* (Conditions apply) from my side of Crossword or Shopper Stop. I know the amount is less but this is what the Administrator can afford until we pick up Avnish's suggestion of contributing in some fund....

* (I am sure we are all used to the Asterix by now).....
Here are the conditions: the person whose name is given should have a valid e-mail id, once invited to join us he / she (???) should join the gang!!

Thanks Sanjay for the 500 Rs. Coupns. It is a real bonus !!! I had expected u to just paste a picture of "crown" looking thing (the way u did in Avinish's B'day note) with some flowers thrown in...

Just wanted to make the following recommendations for this contest :

1. we should get atleast 1 point for putting up the names of our "batchmates in the "lost/yet to be found column" coz raking up our brains for remembering the names of our batchmates is an exercise in itself. Not to forget our 45yrs and the wide gap of over 2 decades.

2. For putting the names with location (which means we are broadly aware of their whereabouts) can fetch us, maybe 2 points.

3. Finding a valid id definetly involves some efforts (a few calls or mails etc. ) so it can fetch us 4 points.

4. For the ultimate (i.e. joining the blog), you are the boss...

Basically pl do not be too hard on us by not giving us anything till the batchmate joins...

I also want to recommend (incase the above is ok..) that we give 4 points straightway to Pradeep for finding Akshay's id and 4 to Avnish for providing
The current id of Sudhir.

So as of today Pradeep is leading by a very narrow margin. Hope u will put up scores somewhere so that we all feel competitive enough to do our bit.

By the way Sanjay pl do not hide behind the garb of the "Administrator" , you also have to participate . Your fast approaching half a century does not qualify you for not coming up with even a single single name. Sangy I am sure you will do a much better job of this...

And all of you , pl do not write me off...I am planning a master stroke , which if works will straight away put me in the lead....pl do not guess and do it before me.

I am ok with the comments from Manju, each one of the referrals will be given 4 points; find the latest status as below. I have also reflected the same in the original post from Manju.

IPMer Referrals Points

Manju 7 28
Pradeep 5 20
Avnish 1 4

When is this contest going to close? Can we say end of Oct? I need to know so that I can use the Cross words voucher for me now and buy the winner later on  (greedy man!!)

I am not hiding behind the scene as administrator, however you have to give some benefit of doubt to me due to my age, my memory is fading (half the time I am running to Sangeeta and asking her who is this guy and who is this girl you guys talk about). Now this fading of memory could be because of my age or because during the IPM days I was focused on someone else!!!! I am happy to be the moderator for this game, participation is not my cup of tea especially for memory games. I do not mind playing Dumb Charade; let's plan that during our reunion.

On the administrator, I have removed all rights to stop anyone from joining in, but should be intimated for me to send an invite, anyone can write a comment on our blog (this is the ease for someone who accidentally comes to know about our site but does not know whom to contact). I am also finding out a way on how to get this posted on Google search so if someone is hunting for us / or their batch IPMers they can connect with us etc. etc. Currently I am struggling to find out a way in which I can post an excel file for all of us to view the important personal events for our group , e.g. spouse name, kid names, marriage anniv, birthdays etc. Something in line with what as suggested by Manju. If anyone can find a way on how to do this, please share with me.

I wrote such a long note and it all got wiped off because the server failed to post it. Learning for all the blogger (at least it has been for me), please write your thoughts on "Word document", do the formatting including the spell check (I am very poor in spelling; you know studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya etc...). Once you are sure you have done the right things, highlight the posting, do a control C and paste it in this section by a control V (now I think I am being kiddish by telling you all this, but at times we need some special care for Older folks like me, so I am just sharing.....

All the best....

Sanjay pl do not give me any points. My efforts so far have been limited to cutting and pasting and that also from all your notes. Pradeep is a more deserving candidate till now. I am sure even Atul and Sangy can contribute. Pl start my score card once my "master stroke " works.

You see ,my conscience does not allow me to cheat .... our basic natures, I guess , never change !!! This I realised after reading your big boss mail. Today after a gap of over 20yrs if we are placed in a similar situation...i will still censor it (Sangy u were a true friend to let me know the evil designs of some others). So much for the worldly exposure/ learnings /experiences etc!!!!

Details of all of us is a real good idea. Why don't u also have a "contact us" kind of thing on the blog(as is given in all websites) for all those batchmates/IPMers who accidently happen to visit us. They might want to say a thing instead of blogging straight away.

Can anyone remember the name of our batchmate who had done LAW . I still remember how much fun u all had made when I called him "uncle" on my very first day.

All right Manju, thanks for this I will give all your points to Pradeep. If this is still not correct let me knnow so here we go

I can't believe that Avnish cannot come up with even one name after publicallly claiming to be "Young" (not 45 but 42).

Can anyone guess what is my master stroke is going to be..

It seems my master stroke took some time!

I was pleasntly surprised to get a call from Mr. Asit Mohan yesterday regarding my mail requesting him for the list of our batch. Have told him that we were planning a reunion and Sanjay would be in touch with him soon.He was quite receptive to the idea.

So Sanjay post it where ever u want to alongwith Pradeep's additions under a diff section (left /joined in 2nd yretc..). This appears to be list of those who finally passed out.

Sanjay I am really disappointed to see that u have not given me even a single point for my efforts . I am sure Pradeep must have missed out on some names atlest

Just wanted to reacp my understanding of the point system :

1. one point for the name of the batchmate (whoever registered it first on the blog)

2. two points for providing the name with current location (to be deducted incase found not correct)

3. four points for providing a valid e-mail id.

4. the points to be allotted are to be decidesd by u incase the batchmate joins the blog. Pl do let us know how many points u have in mind.

Also another imp. point , we can can get only one set of points for one particular entry. For eg. pradeep gets 1 point for refering Tapaswi's name but tomorrow he updrades it with a valid email id then gets 4points and not 4+1 i.e the earlier referal point has to be removed.

Two people can get points for the same entry but in diff category. For eg. if i suggest Tapaswi's name then i get one point . Subsequently if Pradeep upgrades it to the 3rd level by providing valid id then he gets 4 points and i still get 1 point.

SANJAY R U UNDERSTANDING!!!!!

Also if anyone wants to forward the contact details , pl forward them seperatly to Sanjay the administrator so that he can take the next step. We should appreciate that some of us might not want our contact details to be put up on the blog .

Also Sanjay u might want to put up the list of the batch (as provided by IPM) as a new post for easy viewing..
